This video is an introduction to Decked out with Mike and a brief overview on the 2011 decking season.  If you only have time to view 1 video this is the one.  The alternative decking industry is evolving very quickly, you need a straight shooter like myself to tell you the truth.  I’m not going to lead your to any specific brand. I’ll tell you similarities, differences and benefits of the products, this will give you the information you need to pick the one that is best for you & your family.

After almost 30 years of installing and now just selling decking and railings I’ve seen literally dozens of decking companies leave the market.  Through my own trial and error I’ve learned that the brand name decking is what you should buy.  I’m asked 3 or 4 times a week about a decking product made by roofing and siding companies that are sold at a Local general building supply company.  These successful roofing and siding companies purchase failed decking companies, they preform some fancy legal work so they don’t have to pay any warranty claims and reintroduce the product.  These inferior decking products use technology that’s 5 – 7 years old and were failures in the first place.  It’s a good idea for them because they already have an established supply chain to a retailer.  They bundle the decking with roofing and siding and give a good incentives to the retailer.  The retailers in turn have their sales staff push these inferior decking products by saying “it just as good as the name brands” but I’m telling you right now they’re not as good.
